Participants will create one-of-a-kind impressions using water-based
low-toxic techniques. Each student will produce a minimum of four prints
using the etching press as well as hand-pull methods to print. We will
explore other possibilities like chine colle. You don't need prior knowledge
-- just come ready to be surprised at what you can accomplish and have
fun.
Maritza Davila is a Professor of Printmaking at the Memphis College
of Art. She has a BA in Art Education from the University of Puerto
Rico, and an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Pratt Institute. Professor
Davila is using a Faculty Enrichment Award from Memphis College of Art
to work on a project based on her family heritage. The project involves
the use of low-toxic technology in Florence, Italy. She has also attended
low-toxic workshops in Scotland, Canada and the United States. She has
exhibited in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Caribbean. Her
work is in collections in France, Poland, Japan, Puerto Rico and the
